Six-year-old Kasey was three when her mother left her father, a drug addict with a history of childhood abuse. Neglected and abused by her father for three years, Kasey finally found help when she was placed in foster care to keep her safe.
It was there that she met Sally, a court-appointed special advocate who quickly became her loving and trusted guide. As Sally learned more about Kasey’s situation, she felt that Kasey should receive counseling and be placed in the safe and stable home of her nearby aunt. The judge agreed with Sally’s assessment and put her recommendations into place.
Because of Sally’s advocacy, Kasey is a happy, thriving little girl, free from abuse. Without Sally’s efforts, Kasey might have had to endure a lengthy and difficult trial. She could have stayed in foster care for a long time and probably would not have received the counseling that benefited her so much.
